➤ We arrive at Pico do Arieiro that is at one of the highest points of Madeira at 1818 meters above sea level. It provides a panoramic view of the central mountains. This is an excellent location to take some breathtaking photos. One of the best things to do in Madeira is to see a Pico do Arieiro sunrise when the sky is lit up in various hues of reds and oranges. Soaring above the sea of clouds, you’ll be immersed in an otherworldly and mystical atmosphere!
Our Top Tip: We arrive about half an hour before sunrise as the glow from the sun starts before the sun is above the clouds. This is when you’ll see the most vibrant and dramatic colours.
The main Pico do Arieiro Viewpoint is Miradouro do Juncal, a 5-minute walk from the car park and one of the best viewpoints in Madeira to watch the sunrise. It faces out towards the ocean and directly to where the sun will rise.

➤ Miradouro do Paredão (Viewpoint). With its unique location, in a deep valley resembling a volcano crater, the parish of Curral das Freiras is one of the most picturesque places on the island of Madeira. Its surroundings are marked by the imposing presence of the mountain peaks that shelter the town.

With an area of 25.07 km² and a population of around 2000, Curral das Freiras is the largest parish in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos. Its History goes back several centuries. In fact, we need to go back to the 16th century to understand the origin of its name. The town was named after the nuns of the Santa Clara Convent who, in 1566, found this to be the ideal refuge when pirates attacked Funchal: Curral das Freiras is one of the few places on the island that, being hidden between the mountains, is not visible from the sea.
➤ Poço dos Chefes, Located in the picturesque Nuns Valley of Madeira, offers a tranquil escape just a short drive away from the city. Accessible through a 2.4-kilometer tunnel, this beautiful spot provides an opportunity to Swimming and unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings.

➤ Pico dos Barcelos Funchal Viewpoint. Located in the parish of Santo António, at an altitude of 355 metres, the Pico dos Barcelos Viewpoint offers a panoramic view over Funchal and the Desertas Islands.

➤ Cabo Girão (Viewpoint). In the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, at an altitude of 580 metres, this viewpoint (known as a skywalk) with a suspended glass platform takes advantage of the unparalleled panoramic view of the highest cape in Europe.

➤ The uniqueness of the Câmara de Lobos Bay was immortalised by Winston Churchill, on the day when, in January 1950, sitting at the Espírito Santo Viewpoint, facing the sea, he set up his easel and painted a picture that he would never forget. The beauty of this scenery is only enhanced by the colourful fishing boats, the famous xavelhas in Madeiran jargon, waving in the blue of the sea.
Sweeten your visit with the traditional poncha in one of the local Bars. (Drink Included in the Tour)
